We are beyond thrilled to welcome Grow House Grow to our family of vendors at MICHI Patterns! Founded in 2007 by artist and storyteller Katie Deedy, this remarkable design studio has redefined the way we think about wallpaper and commercial design. To Katie, wallpaper is more than a backdrop—it’s a canvas for storytelling, a way to bring history, folklore, and personal narratives into the very fabric of our homes, showrooms, and workspaces. Each of her designs tells a tale, inviting you to step into a world filled with myth, adventure, and artistry.
Katie’s background in fine arts and her lifelong passion for storytelling shine through in every collection. Whether drawing from historical figures, family lore, or forgotten fables, her work is a bridge between the past and the present, blending intricate patterns with deeply meaningful narratives. It’s no surprise that her work has received acclaim from major publications such as The New York Times, Elle Decor, Interior Design Magazine, Better Homes & Gardens, New York Magazine’s The Cut, Fast Company, O Magazine, and Luxe. Even more impressively, Grow House Grow’s wallpapers are now part of the Brooklyn Museum’s Decorative Arts permanent collection, a testament to their craftsmanship and historical significance. We are honored to showcase their work within our Columbus wallcovering collections, bringing more inspired storytelling to the world of commercial design.

A Wallpaper Collection Rooted in Stories
Each of Grow House Grow’s wallpaper designs is steeped in story, making it far more than just a beautiful pattern. At MICHI Patterns, we are passionate about showcasing designs that go beyond aesthetics—wallcoverings that spark conversation, evoke emotion, and create meaningful connections to history and culture. Grow House Grow exemplifies this philosophy, blending artistry with narrative to transform any space, from a cozy home to a high-end showroom or large-scale commercial design project.
Some of Katie Deedy’s designs are inspired by real-life adventurers—bold explorers who charted unknown territories, visionaries who changed the course of history, and pioneers whose legacies continue to inspire. Others are rooted in folklore, breathing life into myths, legends, and fables that have been passed down for generations. Still others celebrate scientific discoveries, paying tribute to the minds that have unlocked the mysteries of the natural world. Each wallpaper in her collection is a bridge between past and present, inviting us to see our surroundings in a new light.
At MICHI Patterns, we believe in the power of storytelling through design, which is why we are so thrilled to introduce Grow House Grow to our Columbus wallcovering offerings. Whether enhancing a boutique, a hospitality space, or a residential project, these wallpapers bring depth, character, and a unique voice to any environment. Let’s take a deeper look at some of the most enchanting designs that now grace our collection.
Digby: The Scandalous Adventurer
One of the most mesmerizing designs in the collection is Digby, inspired by the extraordinary life of Lady Jane Digby—a 19th-century aristocrat who shattered conventions with fearless reinvention. Jane’s journey was one of passion and defiance, weaving through aristocratic salons, scandalous love affairs, and breathtaking adventures across Europe and the Middle East. She ultimately found her greatest love and freedom in Syria, where she embraced Bedouin culture and redefined her own destiny.
The Digby wallpaper mirrors this untamed spirit, fusing European opulence with the raw beauty of the desert—delicate flourishes entwined with bold, unexpected motifs. It is a pattern as daring and timeless as Jane herself, evoking romance, wanderlust, and the thrill of rewriting the rules.
Petticoat Palm: A Lush Escape
Petticoat Palm is a bold, vibrant design that transports you to a sunlit oasis, where the air is thick with the scent of salt and blooms, and the rhythm of swaying palms energizes the space. Inspired by the striking movement of palm fronds, this pattern captures the dynamic energy of nature with graphic precision. Each hand-drawn frond flows like a skirt, creating a lively, eye-catching design that brings a tropical flair to any room. Whether on walls or textiles, Petticoat Palm transforms interiors into a vibrant escape, full of warmth and spirited beauty.
This design is a tribute to the designer’s great-great-grandmother, who, during Cuba’s early days of independence, made a bold statement at a theatrical performance by climbing onto a table and proclaiming, “Today the flag of Cuba flies over Spain!” Petticoat Palm celebrates her and the strong, vibrant Cuban women who are fearless, powerful, and always make their mark.
Fauna Fantasía: A Whimsical Wilderness
Fauna Fantasía is a vibrant wallpaper that captures the untamed spirit of nature, ideal for dreamers and adventurers. Playful creatures like monkeys swinging through vines, birds nestled in lush greenery, and snakes weaving through the underbrush bring this design to life. Even smaller animals like bats and snails contribute to the lively scene. The deep green Pinar del Río colorway evokes the heart of a hidden jungle, full of mystery and discovery.
This pattern is inspired by stories Katie's Cuban grandfather used to tell her, particularly the one about his childhood adventure when he ran off to join the circus. He wasn’t scared because, as he always said, "There are no poisonous animals in Cuba." Though Katie was skeptical at first, she discovered he wasn’t entirely wrong—Cuba really does have no venomous creatures, creating a sense of safety and serenity in the jungle, with gentle snakes, birds, and snails.
Fauna Fantasía is a tribute to the magical world Katie’s grandfather created through his stories—an imaginative space where animals from the Cuban countryside come to life. While there are no monkeys in Cuba, a playful one has been added to complete the adventure.
In the Bathhouse: An Ode to Ritual and Relaxation
Bathhouses have always been more than just places to get clean—they’re full of history, humor, and the occasional surprise. In the Bathhouse captures this offbeat energy, blending vintage elegance with a playful twist, much like the time a monkey in a red bathing suit caused chaos at Rockaway Beach.
When a pavilion attendant found the little troublemaker scolding from inside a bathhouse, he turned him over to the police. The precinct’s tallest officer, Norman King, was sent to retrieve him, drawing a crowd of 300 excited kids as the monkey peeked from his pocket, making faces. At the station, baffled officers logged him as "lost, strayed, or stolen" and tied him to the back porch, where five patrolmen at a time stood guard. Some suspected a prank by Yale students, but the monkey wasn’t talking.
Like this curious tale, In the Bathhouse brings a sense of fun and unpredictability to any space. With bold patterns and a touch of mischief, it’s perfect for those who love a little humor in their design.
Jardin: A Botanical Wonderland
For those who find tranquility in gardens, Jardin brings the beauty of nature indoors. This vibrant design is filled with blooming flowers and lush greenery, capturing the essence of strolling through a secret garden. With its intricate details and lively composition, Jardin infuses any space with freshness and vitality.
The pattern draws inspiration from both Mexican and global folklore. While many know the man on the moon, other cultures see different shapes—such as the rabbit, found in Western Aztec, Otomi, Cree, Chinese, Korean, and Japanese stories. Jardin combines these legends, with stylized moons, suns, rabbits, deer, and herbs, creating a beautiful blend of Earth and sky.
The Craftsmanship Behind the Storytelling
What makes Grow House Grow’s wallpapers even more special is their meticulous, hand-crafted production process. Each design is silk-screened by hand in New York, ensuring that every roll is a true work of art. Unlike mass-produced wallpaper, this layered stencil process allows for incredible depth, warmth, and texture—elements that bring each story to life.
For those in need of a commercial-grade option, Grow House Grow also offers Type II Vinyl wallpapers that retain the beauty and storytelling essence of their hand-crafted counterparts. This means that whether you're designing a cozy reading nook or a high-traffic commercial space, you can enjoy their intricate patterns and meaningful narratives, perfect for showrooms, offices, or any Columbus, Ohio-based commercial design project.
A Commitment to Sustainability
Beyond their artistry, Grow House Grow is also dedicated to environmental sustainability. The studio has partnered with One Tree Planted, ensuring that for every roll of wallpaper produced, a tree is planted. This initiative reflects a deep respect for the planet—just as their designs celebrate history and nature, they also actively contribute to a greener future.
Bringing Stories into Your Home
At its core, Grow House Grow is about storytelling through design. Every wallpaper they create invites you to step into another world, to surround yourself with history, and to find beauty in the details. Whether you choose a design inspired by a rebellious aristocrat, a lush garden, or a mystical jungle, you are not just decorating a wall—you are bringing a story to life. If you’re looking to infuse your home with artistry, whimsy, and history, Grow House Grow’s collection is a perfect choice. Their wallpapers don’t just decorate—they speak, evoke, and inspire.
